A large Illinois health care provider is joining two Chicago medical centers to operate long-term acute care hospitals.


Oak Brook-based Advocate Health Care is joining an existing partnership between Rush University Medical Center and Loyola University Medical Center.

The not-for-profit partnership will operate two existing hospitals that specialize in weaning patients from ventilators. The partnership was announced Tuesday.

RML Specialty Hospital in Hinsdale and Advocate Bethany Hospital on Chicago's West Side will share clinical protocols and best practices. Both already operate as long-term acute care facilities. Together, they operate 201 licensed beds.
