Guam Community College is offering the following free nursing certification courses this month and next:

° A two-day Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course will be held Aug. 3-4, Aug.7-8, and Aug.12-13., according to GCC. The instructor will be Debra J Steveson RN, CEN,clinical educator for emergency and trauma services for Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center in Colo. and an International TNCC/ENPC instructor.

This course was developed to educate nurses on caring for acutely ill and injured children, and will include pediatric trauma and resuscitation, a press release from GCC stated.

° A Trauma Nurse Core Course will be offered in partnership with CareJet Air Ambulance. The two-day courses will be held on the following dates:

July 27-28, July 31-Aug.1, Aug.10-11, Aug. 16-17, and Aug.18-19.

Steveson will instruct this course as well. The course was developed to provide the learner with the core-level trauma knowledge and psychomotor skills experience in an interactive format, the press release stated.

All classes will take place in GCC’s Anthony A. Leon Guerrero Allied Health Center, and there is no charge attached to the training. The Emergency Nurses Association will issue certification upon successful completion, and contact hours will be awarded.
