New grads aren't the only ones not able to secure jobs. The real market's bottom line is money just like nursing and what the economy is or isn't doing. So many positions are being filled within the company and one person is doing several jobs. The latter is not unheard of anyway.
Nurses, both new and experience, are taking whatever jobs are available rather than the ones one would perfer to have.
The present economy is still not what "we" call a nursing shortage. Until finances are back on track, many will be out of work, cut back on hours, or doing several duties that require more than one person to do.
