I thought this was a nice story: http://www.connecttristates.com/news...aspx?id=505681

The Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing's kick-off ceremony was a little more monumental. The Commitment to Caring Ceremony had two parts. In the first event, students went around small groups discussing what it means to care.

"It also helps students at every level to think about for just a moment why we're here, why they want to be a nurse, and what does that mean to the community at large, to people, to our society, what differences do nurses make," said Academic Dean College of Nursing Brenda Beshears.

The second, and more symbolic, event had teachers wash the students' hands. As the water was poured, a prayer was said for each student as they continue their education in healing.

"In less than a year we're going to be going out into the workforce as RNs and using our hands everyday to help patients, their families, and to take care of ourselves and the people in our community," said senior Kellea Dietrich.

The event was held at the Quincy Senior Center due to the large amount of students.
