Jennifer Peuster, a 28-year-old licensed practical nursing student at State Fair Community College, was chosen by her classmates to throw a pie in the face of Dee Dee Gilmore, a nursing instructor at the college.

Peuster is a first year, first semester LPN student in the class, which raised the most money in the recent United Way fundraising drive. The nursing classes raised a total of $598 by selling cards for $1 each. Peuster’s class raised $316. Nursing students said they chose Gilmore as the pie recipient because she is a “good sport.”

“I was honored to be chosen,” Gilmore said, “anything to benefit the community. It was for a good cause.”

Dana Kelchner, SFCC director of marketing and communications, said employees and student organizations contributed nearly $9,000 to this year’s United Way campaign.
