The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN®) (www.ncsbn.org) announces that Nevada has joined www.nursys.com bringing the total number of full participating states* in the database to 42. Nursys.com is the only national database for verification of nurse licensure, discipline and practice privileges for registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical/vocational nurses (LPN/VNs) licensed in participating jurisdictions, including all states in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)**, and is comprised of data obtained directly from the licensure systems of the boards of nursing through frequent, secured updates.

"The Nevada State Board of Nursing has chosen to join now based on nursys.com enhancements that allow for even greater public protection. We wanted to focus our limited resources where return is greatest to best meet the needs of the citizens of our state," remarked Debra Scott, MSN, RN, FRE, executive director, Nevada State Board of Nursing.

Employers and the general public can easily utilize the Licensure QuickConfirm a free nursys.com application used to verify licenses from a full participating board of nursing. Within minutes, a detailed report is generated, containing the nurse's name, jurisdiction, license type, license number, license status, original license issue date, expiration date and any discipline against the license (as made available by the board of nursing). In addition, for states participating in NLC, any discipline against the privilege to practice will also be contained in the report.

Nursys.com also enables nurses to verify their license(s) from a board of nursing participating in license verification service*** when applying for endorsement into another state. Nurses can verify their licenses by completing the Nursys verification process for $30.00 per license type, per each state board of nursing where the nurse is applying. The nurse's license verification is electronically available immediately to the endorsing board of nursing.

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose members include the boards of nursing in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and four U.S. territories -- American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands and the Virgin Islands. There are also seven associate members.

Mission: NCSBN provides education, service and research through collaborative leadership to promote regulatory excellence for patient safety and public protection.
