The hospital where I was working just canceled my contract after 6 weeks. The made up some story that was absolutely not true. Luckily my agency knows the truth. But here it is , New Years weekend, and I don't have a job and no one I need to talk to is in their office. I don't know if I will be homeless or what is going to happen. This is the scariest and most frustrating situation I have ever been in!
Geeez! Happy New Year, eh? Where are you staying at the moment? Is it provided by your agency or the hospital?
And don't you have an emergency contact with your agency? Will anyone be in tomorrow?
I am still in the apartment that was provided by my agency. When I talked to them 2 days ago, they said there would be no problem staying through the weekend, because they were working on getting me another position.Supposedly there was another hospital in the area that needs someone ASAP, but I have not heard from them-probably because of the holiday. My recruiter A, is out of the office this week. Another recruiter, E, was covering for her, but she was "out of the office" yesterday, so i left a message with M, who was covering for her.She did not call back. My agency is in Cal., and I am on the east coast, so I have to wait until later in the day, to try to reach someone. I am not real optimistic about reaching anyone today ( New Years Eve). So probably on Monday the ^&*# will hit the fan when everyone gets back in the office and they realize I am living in their housing and don't have a job. This is on top of the worry about not getting paid because I am not working. :panic:
IMHO, you should get paid for the aggro you are going through. Also, at least you have a roof over your head.
I am sure stuff WILL hit the fan....
HAPPY NEW YEAR although it doesn't seem to happy right now. I an glad you can stay where you are. I am getting together items on the check list I was memailed to travel. I was wondering if the recruiter went over such a scenario with you and gave information on what to do.
Best of luck and you are in my prayers. I hope you will keep us posted. on how things go. Also this kind situation will be on my list of things to talk about with my recruiter.
I finally was able to talk to my recruiter today. They are keeping me in my housing until they find me another job, which is a huge relief. She has my profile out to every hospital in the state who are looking for travel nurses.
Wanda-I never discussed with my recruiter before because it never occurred to me this could happen. I thought a contract was a contract.
I am soooo sorry this even happened! What a heck of a learning experience. Guess this was a learning experience for you, and for others, too! :panic:
Any chance of site seeing?
I was offered a job today, but it doesn't start until 1/18. Luckily my company is keeping me in housing until the job starts.
