Nurses are in high demand.

South Georgians interested in that career have a new option for nursing school.

Albany Technical College is offering a new program this Quarter that caters to students with full-time jobs.

The school expanded its Practical Nurse program into the evenings.

Debra Boughner was laid off from Cooper Tire and enrolled after hearing about the program on T.V. one morning.

"They were talking about this program and within two hours I got into my truck and signed up. It is be perfect for me, I can work during the day and still continue with my education," Debra Boughner, ATC Nursing Student.

"They can come to work from 4:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. which is the time most people get off of work, around 5 p.m., so they can get their education and still hold down full time jobs," Teresa Darity, ATC Practical Nursing Instructor.

This quarter's class had 15 spots available.

The school filled 11 of them which they say is a great start.
