New 2 volume edition of Fundementals of Nursing available

Like we don't carry around enough books. http://www.prweb.com/releases/2011/01/prweb4982734.htm

Fundamentals of Nursing, Volume 1: Theory, Concepts, and Applications and Volume 2: Thinking, Doing, and Caring are by Judith M. Wilkinson, PhD, ARNP and Leslie S. Treas, PhD, RN broke new ground with a new approach to the foundation course in a nurse’s education. Now, the just published 2nd Edition continues to innovate with new features and content that reflect the art and science of nursing practice today.

“This innovative text teaches nursing students how to think like nurses from their very first day of class,” said Lisa Deitch, Nursing Publisher for F.A. Davis Company. “Its two-volume structure reflects how this course is taught in many nursing schools throughout the United States and Canada. The authors’ informal, conversational writing style speaks directly to students, requiring them to actively participate in the learning process. And, it employs all of the new technology available to help students learn and instructors teach. Fundamentals instructors greeted the 1st Edition with great enthusiasm for providing their students exactly what they need to succeed in class, clinical lab, and practice. We think that the 2nd Edition will do the same…even better.”

Case studies—“Meet Your Patient” in Volume 1 and “Caring for the Garcias” in Volume 2—capture student interest and connect theory to practice.

Both volumes are written in a unique engaging style that speaks to the student. The pedagogical features not only teach students what to do and how to do it, but also explain why to do it. Among the features new to the 2nd Edition are the QSEN Competencies and safety highlighted throughout the narrative and the procedures. Also new to this Edition is an increased emphasis on evidenced-based practice and gerontology as well as critical thinking and reasoning questions and knowledge maps which are now included for every chapter in Volume 2.

    Cool

I'm surprised that the publisher did not take the opportunity of increasing the price to $250 for the great innovation of physically splitting the book in two.

I swear they did this to extort more money out of us. Also, think of the bad backs we'll have carrying the things around.

Then, they'll be insisting we get the I-phone apps, which is even more of a hassle. Phones are for talking. Computers are for looking things up.
