Why should a pardon revive a career in nursing. It does not change the fact you were convicted of a felony. I believe in second chances, but they have to be earned, not just given to you. But nursing involves trust. you may get a pardon. But you can not just have that loss of trust magically restored. The pardon just pardons the crime, the conviction is still there. What you did to get convicted is still there.

I agree in this case. Of course, we have only one side of the story; what transpired in court?

Wonder what others would have to say.

Not sure when she got her license, but I do remember both my LPN AND RN instructors going over the legal aspects of licensing. Plus, when you apply for a license, doesn't it ask about any past convictions? You have to do some mighty fine explaining, and even then it is up to the State Board..... Just MHO.

Actions have consequences. They may not be "fair", but we have no promise of fair. Between '79 and '96 there are two (known) serious lapses of judgement. In '79 she would have been 35 and in '96, 52, both well past the developmental age with diminished consequential evaluative process.

Sooo... I certainly believe in grace and mercy, but I would be extremely prejudiced against this woman caring for the elderly, with the potential for abuse in relation to her past offences. ICU, Med/Surg, no worry, if she showed herself capable of current practice standards. Either of these settings have significantly less access to long-term care patients with limited outside access and evaluation.
