Dave, I believe that this post deserves to be 'on its own'.

I, for one, will be looking forward to hearing how things are going --- WHEN you have time, of course. Am sure SoldierNurse would also be interested.

    Hello Dave,
Will you be given constructive credit for you time as a civilian RN?

Anyway, thank you for your decision to become a member of the Army Nurse Corps. I've been assigned to MAMC & FT Lewis, PROFIS to 31st CSH for 15 month deployment in Iraq, done two year QA officer slot @ Combat Medic Course, and now assigned to 2N ST ICU @ BAMC, FSH, San Antonio, TX.

Let me know if you have questions about, ANC, AMEDD, or Army in general

I'm commissioning through ROTC, so I haven't had any experience as a civilian RN.

I just got news that my assignment will be in soon, I'm hoping for my first choice which was MAMC. Won't know a date until I take the NCLEX in late June. I hear OBC dates are hard to come by so it could be anywhere between July and October before I go to OBC then my first assignment. I'm really looking forward to getting there and learning as much as I can...

Will you be Active Component or Reserve Component?

I will be Active Component. I was just informed that MAMC will be my first duty station or at the very least where I complete CNT. I was told that due to the large number of 2LTs at the MEDCEN's, some of us may have to PCS to MEDAC's after CNT. I'm hoping to be able to stay at MAMC for a while though.

    CNT?

I liked MAMC, as well as the PNW. I did the 8A course at MAMC, then assigned to ICU-E. However, 7 months after the course I was PROFIS to the 31st CSH for 15 month Iraq deployment.

Beautiful country! You must go to Pikes Market in Seattle. It's hilarious watching the huge fish (ready for sale) get thrown around by the shop staff.

I guess CNT is what they call the preceptor program.

I was there this summer for the Warrior Forge Course and stayed a few days after to vacation, absoluetely loved it out there. I also requested it because I was hoping to get in the 8A course after a year or so.

Pikes Market was one site I didn't get to see, but it will have to be one of the first when I get back there!
