I am a staff R.n of bilingual culture. One of the laws I wish would be enforced in hospitals is the use of the English language as the official language when conferring with other individuals. Too many times I have heard the Phillipine dialect being spoken in our hospital. As a staff R.n of bilingual culture (spanish), I avoid talking to peers, patients, or medical staff in spanish becauses I don't want them to feel uncomfortable. While I have great respect for our Phillipine counterparts, we must all understand that some staff are uncomfortable around this type of environment.
