Arrow Bipolar RN falsely accused of diversion

Hi...I have been a cardiac nurse for 5 years now at a very busy 35 bed unit. We keep high census, and have high acuity along w/ several unseasoned staff.

We average >300 d/'s a month on our unit alone, and average 9-11 patient to 1 ratio at nights. I am generally charge nurse, and consistently a resource to all who needs assist, which is frequently. Anyway, I was falsely accused of diversion. I am gultiy of improperly disposing of meds as several others did the same due to extreme craziness. I know that it is no excuse, but at the time I was very naive, and truly did not think it was that big of deal-----did this for approx five yrs w/ no confrontation, then apparently another RN was in fact diverting IV dilaudid, and they began to pull reports, and mine made me a significant outlier.
Wow, I was horrified...when I arrived for my shift I was escorted to a urine test, and new I ould fail as I recently--and stupidly smoked marijuana w/ a girlfriend after confiding marriage problems along w/ severe depression, and anxiety. She tried to help, but that back fired horrendously.

i am now an impaired RN who cannot work--I volunteered myself to PNAP and VRP. I was eval'd by an addictionologist who found my not drug dependent, and is rec. psychiatric care--which ai am doing. I was recently dx w/ bipolar, which is not hard to believe when I reminisce on the past 6 months on my mental being , and poor choices.
I am currently awaiting word fro PNAP, and VRP. I also currently have my job--although haven't worked since beg of May.
For some odd reason they want me to come to HR for a meeting tom. I truly believe
    I am being fired.

Anyone in similar situation. I have no idea what to expect, and this bipolar is really screwing w/ me ((

I was a floor RN and a charge RN on the same level ratio med/surg unit for 3.5 years. Suddenly last spring (2011) I was discharged for suspicion of diversion after reporting missing narcotics. No validation or proof, just suspicion. even drug test was negative, still I was fired and am now facing a DOH investigation. Sooooooo wrong. That is one reason I really feel for nurses unions and the help they may provide. I am an RN in the south.
