What are you worried about. You are not dead. You have made it 52 years already. Whats a few more.
At 52 I need to "retool" for a career change . I would like nursing.... thought about it for years... am I too old to start?

I figure you're probably more mature than some 24 year old....
Go for it, Deke. You will be in good company.
Deke, let me ask you some questions, rather than a bunch of rah-RA as above.
How many years ago did you attend college? Are you interested in LVN, RN (ADN), BSN, MSN, or beyond? Any experience in healthcare related field? Do you / have you ever been a waiter or servant? Do foul odors bother you? Or does the sight / smell of blood bother you? Have you been on your feet for extended periods of time? Why do YOU want to be a nurse?
... the only thing you have to fear is fear itself
Cary James Barrett, RN, BSN
Good reality check, Cary. Thanks. I guess I was having a summer moment.
It's never tool late to try something new! Go for it Deke!!
we had 6 guys in Nursing class (record for my school) 2 were in the 50's only 1 was under 30 at graduation... so I say go for it. Just be prepared Nursing school is far different than most other college courses... and Nursing work is hard... no joking about it... but very rewarding.... Good Luck in your pursuit.
Deke, it's been over 6 months?
