So the sleek black busses purchased for Obama's 3 day "listening tour" cost the US taxpayor 1.1 million dollars. That doesn't count the cost of extra secret service protection, gas etc..... All so our fearless leader can hear what's bothering the people........Uh could it be the lack of jobs, his miserable lack of ability to create jobs or that every policy he promotes actually kills jobs........I don't think he needs to leave DC for that.

In the meantime he's telling us to tighten our belts stop driving SUV's and pay more taxes.

Peace

Oh God I hear the Right Wingers are out playing their tune. When will they stop listening to Sarah, and Michelle, and Rush. and the Tan Man also. Oh and when will they stop listening to the Baloney from Faux news, owned by a Brit whose sole interest is to create discord without the truth to back them up. When will the GOP/TP take responsibility for their own behavior and actions. They have done absolutely nothing constructive, all they ever do is say NO. They have done nothing but spread fear, lies, and racist statements to attempt to bring the government to a screeching halt. I will admit they have achieved this well. I give the devil their credit.

At least the Democrats have been able to reverse things in Wisconsin and even more so in Ohio. Governor Kasich is back pedaling and admitting defeat in a hurry after the election showed him the error of his ways.

People should stop eating fast food and tighten their belts, it would do them good. As far as driving SUVs , you can drive SUVs as long as admit to yourself that by driving big SUVs that guzzle gas. You are Helping keep our country in these illegal wars just so you can guzzle gas and keep our troops in harms way. How many troops and others over there need to die just so we can guzzle gas. The only people that he has asked to pay a fair share of taxes is the wealthy. Seeing as the GOP is very consistent on giving tax breaks and incentives to the wealthy. Even Warren Buffet came out and stated that the wealthy and the corporations should pay a more fair share of taxes. Of course the GOP would rather be bought off by the wealthy corporations and the Koch Brothers.

Tom, it's great to read such delusion stuff this time of day!

As for wars: FDR and Churchill met back in the summer of '41---FDR was 'fishing', according to the official 'press'. Do NOT tell me he didn't know what the heck was coming in December. BTW, weren't we just getting over that Depression, and was not FDR a Democrat? Just food for thought.

Obama did NOTHING for Illinois, I can tell you that (unless touting his book counts for something.....)

I have voted against having some of the recumbents return to their cushy jobs. Takes more than one person to vote, though.

As for gas: Chronic road work being done in this area, and trying to get to job is a hassle. No matter what you drive, car WILL guzzle. Oh, and take a look at Montana, Wyoming and such. Towns far and few between. True, these are mainly cattle areas, but still.....you gonna hitch up a trailer to a Honda? What if you aren't a rancher, but a rural nurse? Again, food for thought.

Hey, Aaron!

BTW, Tom; you are in TX, Aaron is in OK. I've been into the eastern part of OK, and trust me----a truck/SUV type car IS needed on that turnpike. Have heard about the great Rain Dance the Cherokees were able to perform in the late '80's, middle of winter. Can you say blizzard that shut down Tulsa for a week? Would hate to be stuck on I 44 in a smaller vehicle.

I feel a vent coming on....................

I do believe that everyone in entitled to their opinion, however there are few these days who could say with a straight face that President Obama has been any thing close to a success. In fact he's actually been a miserable failure. He promised Hope and Change now we can only hope for change. While I admit without apology that I am a conservative I honestly think Hillary would have done a better job.

In addition to my nursing degree I have degrees in British and American history and Religion. My opinions are not from listening to right wing radio or TV. Though I do believe that many liberals and social progressives believe exactly what the liberal media wants them to. Paul Moyer and Dan Rather have both been caught numerous times fabricating evidence to support their stories.

AS for compromise - Does anyone even recall when Obama said in a nationally televised speech the Republican's could either get on board with the Democratic party (then the majority)or "ride in the back of the bus". OR that his would be the most transparent and non-partisan presidency then he and his party actually locked conservatives out of the health care debate. How most members of congress didn't even bother to read the legislation and stated that the majority of Americans were too stupid to understand what was good for them.

On the economy _Obama hasn't done a single thing to improve the economy. His website where he claims to have Saved or created numbers of jobs was checked by an independent auditing firm who found that much of the data was fabricated and untrue. The housing bubble and subsequent collapse was directly due to deregulation of the mortgage industry under Clinton because of the socialist belief that everybody should own a home even if they can't afford to pay for it.

On taxes - Fact 49% of all Americans pay no taxes whatsoever. 41% pay some taxes and 10% the so-called greedy wealthy may more taxes than all of the others.
So they are already paying more taxes. Yet these people who are also the ones who create jobs and are being taxed out of business. Warren Buffet should shut his mouth. He is the 2nd richest man in the world. Most of his money is held in off-shore accounts that can't be taxed in the United States. He did not contribute any money to his children's education stating he is self-made and they should do it too.

Don't even get me started on Health care reform.......

All through venting for now - Man that felt good

Oh and BTW - Driving SUVs has nothing to do with keeping us embroiled in Illegal Wars. Which Illegal war would that be? The one under Bush which had a full vote of congress or the one under Obama who entered the conflict in Libya which he entered on his word alone without a vote of congress - truely an illegal violation of the war powers act. The power of being Commander in Chief just went to his head.

The fact is that US does not have to be dependent on foriegn Oil! There is enough domestic oil in the US to power our country at current consumption levels for 200 years. The wells in the Alaskan Oil Preserve have already been drilled the pipelines are in place all we have to do is hook up and start pumping. Liberals say we need alternative fuel sources - What about clean burning natural gas? We have the technology. Solar power you say - Obama's pet solar company has gone bankrupt and moved it's production to China. Why because Obama's policies are so punitive to private industry no one wants to do business here.
suebird3 Aug 19, 2011, 2:57 AM
Cousin in Alaska is making a few (!) good bucks working on said pipeline. The powers-that -be were callin g him the DAY we buried his DAD, wondering when he'd be back. Yes, this was the funeral for the PH survivor.

If all vehicles got a minimum of 30 mpg. We could abandon all dependence on Foreign Oil Is there any reason why big engine trucks and diesels cant get 30 mpg. Big Oil companies, and the automotive industry do not want this to happen. They want us dependent on Foreign oil, Its always been in their game. Look at the huge profits Big Oil makes while we give them subsidies in the billions and tax breaks in even larger numbers,

I had no problem negotiating the BA expressway, covered with slick ice while more was falling. Driving my little Pinto. Do you need big vehicles, no. When 95% isnt needed. Do you need them to go to the mall. Or the supermarket. I know very few rich enough to fill up their trucks at the mall with goods. Same at the market. even if you go to Sams or Costco

Big difference in cars that guzzle and those that sip

1 Im not happy with Obama

2 He did promise hope and change and to end the war. He has disappointed me times 3. The right wing extremists have done absolutely nothing positive except to vote no. They have continued to whittle away at our personal freedoms. They have continued to promote the rape and destruction of our Earth. Pollution. Destroying mountains and the country in West Virginia. He has not ended the war and there is no excuse for that. Meanwhile the right wing is also destroying what used to be a good education system. Here in Texas they are removing all references to Thomas Jefferson from the History books. They are rewriting voter registration laws. Really now being able to use your concealed weapon license as ID for voting, amusing. Now the right wing wackos are wanting to rewrite the constitution and just do away with parts they do not like. Lets also not forget that the right is also actively engaged in diminishing the rights of women to control their own bodies.

3 Are you actually, considering Faux News as a credible source. A company run like its the Enquirer news rag. Owned by a foreigner who admits that his main goal is not the truth but to spread hatred and lies. Or do you consider Rush, and Glen and Michele and Sarah as beacons of truth and wisdom.

4 As far as compromise, lets see now. Obama has shifted his way so far to the right I no longer consider him a Democrat.

5 as far as Taxes. Congrats to Warren Buffet for having the sense and the honesty in him to admit what is right.. Tax him, Tax big business, Tax the Rich, Tax big oil.Tax insurance. Tax Pharmaceutical companies.
Too save money end these illegal wars. Too save money end this immoral war on marijuana. Too save money bring our troops home. The cold war is over. Bring our troops home from Europe. Bring our troops home from South Korea. We will still get their Hyundai and Kia imports. Fortunately as they really are superior to American autos.

6 On the economy no he has not created the jobs. No hes has not gone to work supporting green technologies. No he has not gone to work restoring our crumbling and worn out infrastructure.

Vent sent back,

Yes the Illegal and immoral wars started by Bush, just because the right wing falsified lies about WMDs. A immoral con job to get the congress to go to war. Bush and Cheney are both war criminals and should be brought up on charges. As far as Libya, I have always supported self determination. Let them work it out themselves. But that was called for by the UN.

Yes lets open up oil reserves in north Alaska. The environment there is suffering enough as is, lets destroy it completely just so we can drive bigger vehicles. Rape the Earth for Oil. Lets not even get into fracking for oil and what that is already doing to pollute the areas around those sites. Yes natural gas is cleaner, but also less effective. And it is still a fossil fuel. Lets not talk about clean coal. There is no such thing. And it was the right that totally blocked Cap and trade. As they are bought for by The Big Oil and Power companies.

The Oil preserve should never have been opened. The Gulf and coastal waters should never have been reopened. Drill Baby Drill and no regard to the environment. Will all this destroy the world before I die. NO probably not. Will it for all my offspring. Yes the world will become a much sadder and damaged place. All for the sake of Big Oil profits and the desire to guzzle gas.
