Indiana nurses are forming a group to improve nursing education, raise money to train nurses and draw more nurses to Indiana.
The Indiana Center for Nursing started as a nonprofit organization last week incorporating the groups Nursing 2000, Nursing 2000 North and the Indiana Nursing Workforce Development Coalition.
The group expects the demand for nurses to increase greatly as Baby Boomers grow older and the federal healthcare overhaul takes effect.
Donna L. Boland will serve as the president of the group's interim board of directors. She is an associate dean at Indiana University's School of Nursing. Boland says the group wants to make Indiana a "magnet state" for nurses.
