I am interested in doing a travel nurse assignment in an ICU in NYC around September or October of this year. I have never done travel nursing but I know most assignments that are posted are for start dates ASAP. My problem is that my wife is an elementary school teacher and would need to let her school know before summer break if she is going to be returning the following year or not. She is willing to tell them that she will not return if we are confident that I will be able to obtain an ICU job in NYC. I currently work full time in an ICU and part time in a trauma ED. By the time September comes I will have 1 year of ICU experience and 2.5 years of ED experience. Does anyone have any information on whether the amount of experience I have will be enough to receive an ICU job in NYC and, if so, which travel companies, if any, typically have the most jobs in NYC. Any advice helps.
