I'm about to hit my 1 year of experience mark and am really eager to do some travel nursing. My specialty is psych and I hope to stay in it. I know it's not as sought after as some of the other specialties out there so I'm wondering if it's a risk to get involved with travel nursing as a psych nurse. Will I be able to find contracts year round or will I have times where I am SOL and have to go for extended periods of time with no work? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
I am new to traveling havent yet started an assignment. Had an offer in Modesto, but had an uneasy feeling so declined.. I have 6yrs psych experience..Have you had any interviews..one travel nurse said most places like at least 2yrs exp in your speciality.
WEll, check the travel website postings for psych nurse , this will give you an idea of availabilty... you will probably be limited in travel options.
