Hello, I am a biomedical engineer student.

As part of a project, I am required to talk to a nurse about positioning aids used to secure anesthesized patients in the operating room.

Ulnar Nerve Injuries are the most common intraoperative neuropathies. There are several positioning devices in the market that are currently used to position, secure and protect the arm from injury. Note that the device is meant to be used in an surgical operative setting.

May you describe the issues and problems you have experienced with the current positioning devices for the arm?

If a new device was to be introduce into the market and studies shows that it may reduce the incidence rate of ulnar neuropathy, would you be interested in using such a device? The device may involve initial training and new procedure in positioning the patient.

Thank you for your responses!
