Tough business nurses are in.. I'm having a hard time dealing with stress at work because different situations cause me aggravation. Mostly, demanding patients who drain you, and being short of LNA/CNA staff. I try to keep cool, but, stress builds.
I work nights, that helps me cope with the increase demands placed on a nurse and I wonder how long I can keep doing this nursing gig.

    Hey KDog,

How are you doing - are you still working with our mutual friend BW? Stay with the program and seek serenity for those things you cannot change........cranky patients/families, short staff etc........ I left the bedside several years ago to work in community care and have never been more satisfied as a nurse. I don't make as much money as I did at the bedside but I have all the time I need to give each and everyone of my consumer's the attention they need. My only real headache is dealing with DHS and CMS over what services are paid for but I have discovered several sneaky tricks to get them what they need.

    Peace and Namaste

True but there is often very little leeway for changing routines in a clinical setting. Routines are established to help one avoid forgetting crucial steps or making mistakes while performing care and Nursing duties. Now if you are talking about personal routines and changing up your person coping mechanisms I wholeheartedly agree.
