Morning, I think. I soooo did not want to get up today. I want to crawl back under the covers, but it won't do any good.

Hppy, I hope you do get that new rezzie; am sorry to hear about the one declining. Unfortunately, it does happen; I have seen it happen many a time.

    What else is going on?

Well the new resident came to see the house but he did't like the house because he's not used to a shared room. Problem is he may not have a choice as his current placement is closed as of Friday. He has an overnight visit tomorrow. So we'll see how it goes........

I understand the reasoning about wanting a room of ones' own, etc., but: did anyone ever consider that, in case of an emergency, having a roommate would be beneficial? Correct me if I am misguided there, eh?

Sorry about my rants. Still shaking my head over a year ago.

If you ever have trouble sleeping I suggest you pick up a copy of Title 22 of the Health Institutions Code. It's about 3 inches thick and very small print. It lists all the rights and regulations involved with the care of developmentally disabled persons. Some of it is very logical but some is just nonsense like the one that requires we periodically titrate psychotic persons off their meds to see if they are still psychotic! Usually this results in all kinds of mayhem. Remember these are the same people who state it's unfair to place a diabetic on a different diet than others in a residence because they have a rite to eat what they want!

In this person's case he's 40 and has always had his own room - Plus most DD/MR persons don't deal with change very well. They become very accustomed to their routine and when that's disrupted they often react negatively and sometimes violently. Also a problem is this poor guy wasn't told he was going to have to move until last Monday so he's had no time to mentally prepare for the move.

So let's hope it all works out

    Peace and Namaste
