Hello from DC by way of Chicago!!!!

Hello from DC by way of Chicago!!!! This is my FIRST post so Im kinda nervous, but I come seeking advice.Does anyone have any information on the quality of ADN to MSN programs? Or would it be better to get a BSN in an accelerated program and then go on to get a MSN?

    Hello,

Haven't heard much about ADN to MSN programs but would like to. There are a lot of nurses that went through diploma programs, that would like a masters without having to complete a BSN first.

    I'm one of them

Would like to become a Nurse Practitioner. No can do around here unless I have a BSN first.

Let us know what you find out. There's a large list of nursing schools on http://www.4nursingschools.com

You can find most American schools there.

    Best wishes,

:waving: Hi, from several good miles away from Chicago! Nice to have you with us.

As for QUALITY of ADN to MSN programs, Rush would be the best. here is a link to their program: Rush University College of Nursing Programs Hope this helps some.

Thank you all so much for your quick replies!! Yes Ive looked at Rush and Loyola also has a program. Question: in these programs is the B.A just assumed because when finished you will have a MSN, or how does that work? And here's my situation:

I am striving to be an CRNA. I am at a 4year University in DC but the Nursing Program is going thru some problems and they want me to wait 3 years to graduate. So I chose to change my major to psych so I can graduate in 1 year and then return home and simply get my ADN and then start working to gain experience. That would take 2 years as opposed to 3 years in a struggling program. THEN I will have two options: 1, get in an accelerated B.A program OR 2, get in one of these ADN to MSN programs. SO Id really like to know which is better to do! I know thats a lot but thank you SOOO much
    :frustrated:

Are you sure you will be able to get into that ADN program when you want to? That may be the longer route in the end.

The program you are in is going thru some problems. The ADN program might too. Most of the nursing programs in the country have problems. Some more than others. I believe you are asking us questions we can't even speculate on let alone give an accurate answer too.

I'm sure glad I'm not going to nursing school now. I see/hear these issues almost daily. Good luck. And that's what you are gonna need, I'm afraid, luck.

Hello ChiRN_2b and welcome to the forum. I can only recommend a program I know and have chosen and that's the ADN to BSN Jacksonville University online program. They give max credit for your ADN work and you can go on to a MSN program immediately. See you around the forum.

    Hi NavyJim58--
I wanted to inquire about your experience with JU. I am currently researching RN-BSN (on-line) programs and would like to pursue an MSN in the future, as well.
Have you had a good experience thus far? What are your gripes, if any, regarding your on-line experience?
I plan on going full-time, as I can do plenty of on-line work while on duty (I'm a Transport Nurse--somtimes there's a lot of downtime).
Also, would it be realistic to finish their program in a year, if I already have an ASN? The only thing I may be lacking prerequisite-wise is Statistics...
Thanks in advance for your response!
