No you don't have to renew your LPN license, just let them know you are now an RN. I was also an LPN -> RN. :o
i have both an lpn and rn license. it's time for the lpn to expire - should i get it renewed?

my boss said i might need my lpn license. have you heard of such a thing?
Ask your boss for what might you need it for? RN licensure gives you all the same capabilities, with more. Maybe your boss knows something we don't. I'm curious ask them and let me know.
Congratulations on going back for your RN, lots of people talk about it, not a lot actually do it.
If you plan on practicing as an RN, I'd let the LPN license go into "Inactive" status.
If anything happens later, you can always reactivate it. I don't see any need for you to keep it, the RN license covers anything you'll do in practice as an LPN.
Do you belong to any professional organizations for LPNs? That's the only reason I could see you keeping it active.
Sincerely,
Andrew Lopez, RN

Unless you plan on working as a LPN instead of a RN in the near future I can't see why you would need to keep your LPN license. I am not trying to demeanor the value of a LPN but as a RN you are a more valuable asset to an employee.Originally Posted by hsieh
I was also an LPN who got my RN; had the LPN license for about a year into the RN licensure. I also say put the LPN license on inactive. You worked hard for the RN, so....
