    Flight Nurse

Anyone have info on becoming a flight nurse? How long does it take, what qualifications, would it be easier to transition from a military air force flight nurse to a civilian flight nurse?

    Question Re: Flight Nurse

I would like to know out of curiosity if flight nurses are required to have ICU or trauma/level 1-2 ER experience? I would love to do flight nursing but there are not many level 1-2 ERs in my area. I would have to commute 2 hrs to the closest level1-2 ER. Thanks for any information.

Are you interested in being a flight nurse in the Air Force? If so, I could do some research for you.

LOL, I've been told I'll possibly be doing some work as a flight nurse as a Soldier Nurse on Blackhawks while in Iraq.

    Re: Flight Nurse

I work in a level one trauma center and we have a flight program. In order to work in our unit you have to have one year of ICU experience. For flight nursing you have to have worked in the ER for one year then you have to take an exam. If you pass that you have to interview with a bunch of different people. Flight personnel have a lot of PR work that they have to do so they look for a lot of different things.
