Well, I have exactly one week left until I leave for Ft Bliss. Its probably going to be a tough week for the wife & I. Every time she starts crying I hold her and reassure her [with my best Arnold S. impression] I'll be back.
Russel, my oldest son called me yesterday. We had not spoke in almost a year. I explained to him I will not be in harm's way like the infantry Soldier, except whenever in a convoy. Of course, the ever present IED is always a factor, too. Anyway, I told him to get in touch with his brother [22 mos younger] to see if they can come see me together in EL Paso [Ft Bliss]. Matt plans on driving from Houston to EL Paso to visit with me for a weekend before I leave for Iraq.
Matt, my youngest son, & I are very close. I'm hoping to get R&R [leave time] in December so to see him graduate college, pin on his butter bars [2LT], and get married... all in the same week!
Sorry to dominate the topic with me, me, me, but I'm sure you can understand where my mind is these days.
