What Are Your Feelings On Hiring New Grads Right Into Critical Care Positions?

I also think it's ok. Many hospitals don't offer 6 months of orientation, though. It also depends on how many new grads are already on the unit.
I think new grads in critical care is a good idea if that's what you want to do. However, right now in our ICU, we've had a surge of new grads. I think new grads in the ICU should be in moderation. You need to make sure that you have a adequate supply of experienced resources. An ICU staffed with mostly new grads is very scary, for the new grad and the short supply of experienced nurses.
i think its great especially if you know where u want to specialize...just be smart and if you are unsure...ASK some one who know....otherwise u can get in a bad situation fast.
