    overtime in cali?

So, i would like some feedback from anyone who has taken a contract in california. Did your company pay you overtime for any hours over your 36? Or are we only supposed to get overtime pay if we work 12 hours or more? I worked eight hours over my contracted 36 and my company is telling my i get paid at a regular rate. Thanks!

I haven't worked in California, but I remember a recruiter telling me the nice thing about Cali was that any day you work more than 8 hours is overtime. So with 12 hour shifts each of those last 4 hrs would be overtime (time and 1/2). I believe this was with Access.

Any thing over 8 hours per day is OT, that being said, any regular hours worked in a week over 40 is also OT, so if you are working 12 hours shifts, you would need to work more than 5 shifts in a week to get extra OT. For example if you worked 48 hours in a week (4 shifts), you would get paid for 32 regular hours & 16 OT. If you worked 5 shifts, you'd get paid for 40 regular hours & 20 OT, if you worked 6 shifts, you'd get paid 40 regular hours and 32 OT.
