Just jumped ship and this is where I landed...

I used to post over at this other message board for nurses but they became so nasty I jumped ship. I think I did learn why nursing has the repuation for back-biting that it does...oh well, hopefully I can find good company here.

I work in a nursing home and aside from odd jobs here and there (private duty and home health) I've been at the nursing home my whole career. I've always yearned to do something exciting like work on a busy hospital unit but I had too many obstacles; small children, a very needy husband...so I stayed with what I had. Sometimes, it's drudgery and terribly unchallenging but I'm thankful to have a job at all so I won't complain.

I will hopefully start classes toward becoming a FNP this summer.

I'm happy to be here.

Welcome to the site! Like Amanda said, there are quite a few of us who were 'over there', but left due to the back stabbing, bickering, and 'my way or the highway' mentality. Besides, why pay for something that is free?

I love my old people; am sure you do, too. But if you head on for your FNP, keep us posted!

Welcome to the site! I can attest to the fact that Soldier, as well as many others, got royally shafted. So far, I am still a member, but then again, I haven't checked in 'over there' in quite a while.

Thanks! I feel so much better. I was really feeling singled out before it was over, it really hurt my feelings. I was never mean to anyone, but there were several who decided they didn't like me (for whatever reason) and it became glaringly obvious with every post. They are so annoyingly arrogant and think they are so high and mighty, but if they really understood the limits of their "power" they'd realize they don't amount to a dunghill.

It looks like this place has way more class. I'm glad I found it.

Jo, I know you are NOT the only one to feel like that. I stumbled onto this site quite by accident, and when I got demoted 'over there....well, there was no looking back.

Look at it this way: These guys don't claim to know everything, and we are encouraged to have differences of opinion. True, there will always be the occasional troll, spammer, or 'problem child', but....it happens. Plus, you don't have to pay for posting in these Forums!

There was actually one moderator who was quite nice, and I know of another one who stepped down from being a moderator, I figure he didn't like the petty crap he saw going on, then there are the rest who are a bunch of...well, they can play their childish mind games.
