For those interested: ITT Technical Institute adds nursing program by Evansville Courier & Press

NEWBURGH, Ind. — ITT Technical Institute in Newburgh is now offering an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing. The program will prepare graduates to become registered nurses.

ITT has received initial approval by the Indiana State Board of Nursing to accept 30 new students each quarter. The program will be offered each quarter and includes theory and clinical components. It will address the concepts of professional nursing roles such as caregiver, advocate, educator, communicator and manager. A general education component will include college math, composition, sociology and psychology. Core nursing courses will include clinical nursing concepts, adult, gerontology, mental health, critical care and maternal child nursing.

Entrance requirements include scoring a passing percentage on the Health Education Systems Inc. Admissions Assessment (HESI) examination. The program will take nine quarters to complete and requires 109 credit hours plus lab and clinical hours. Federal financial aid, various grants and student loans are available to those who qualify.

The school is offering information seminars on the new degree on Tuesdays, Thursdays and some Saturdays.
