    Potential Nursing Confusion!

    Hey to all!

I'll be brief, but would very much like to hear thoughts from everyone about my "plan" for my mid-life career change to nursing.

I'm 43, with a BS in computers. Leaving to pursue nursing. I live in the Wash, DC area where there are many, many community colleges, as well as four year universities.

Because I have pre-req classes that I currently lack from my other BS degree, I will be spending Jan-July 06 taking A & P, Chem, and a few other classes.

In the fall of 2006, if all goes well, I'll enter the BSN, 2nd degree program at the Catholic University. I chose them because of two factors: the nursing dept has been around since 1951, and they have a high passing rate for their graduates when sitting for the "big exam." They also just appeared in US News and World Report in the top nursing schools in the country.

HOWEVER, do I need to go in debt (25K a year for two years), to get a BSN, OR should I be looking at just getting an RN degree from a smaller, cheaper school??? The more I read, the more confused I get!

I have a feeling that I should just stick to my plan, and get the BSN.

    Thanks everyone!
    Best,
    Randy

    Re: Potential Nursing Confusion!

Possibly you could consider getting your ADSN, working and then pursuring your BSN at a later date part time. How does that option sound?
