FYI: Beauregard Education Link inaugurates nursing program - DeRidder, LA - Deridder Daily News

Louisiana Technical College/ Lamar Salter Campus has launched their Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) Program at the Beauregard Education Link.

Many months of renovations in preparation for the inspection from the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurses have finally paid off.

The program currently has 30 students enrolled that report to class in DeRidder.

The nursing facilities at the First Street School include a functioning lab, reference library, computer lab, and classroom.

The program progresses from simple to complex and consists of classroom instruction, lab practicum and supervised clinical activities in accredited hospitals, nursing homes, and other health care agencies.

The Practical Nursing program is designed to prepare the student to meet the licensure requirements for Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), as established by the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners (LSBPNE).

“It should not be difficult for the students to find employment once they have passed the state exam,” said Sandra Farquhar, RN, LTC Instructor.

“Most will become employed right here in DeRidder.”

“In tough economic times it is difficult to travel to obtain higher education. We are extremely excited to be able to offer this program in our community,” said Misty Clanton, Project Coordinator for the Beauregard Education Link.

“My sincere appreciation goes to the staff at Lamar Salter for their commitment as they continue to bring wonderful programs to the citizens of DeRidder.”
