Familiar Face: Marilyn Fearnside | Sentinel-Tribune

Marilyn Fearnside a diabetes nurse educator at Wood County Hospital is retiring on April 17, 2010 after 38 years of service. Marilyn began her career at Wood County Hospital on April 17, 1972 as an LPN. Initially, she worked in the Obstetrics Department as a childbirth educator. After obtaining a teaching degree at BGSU and a nursing degree at Owens Community College, she transitioned into teaching individuals with diabetes how to manage their disease. Marilyn and her husband Bill live on a farm off of Liberty High Road near Rudolph; they have three adult children. In her retirement Marilyn plants to do volunteer work, get in shape and travel to visit her children and grandchildren. "The thing I will miss most at Wood County Hospital is the people", says Marilyn. "They are caring and dedicated to the patients and to each other."
