If you were not paid by a travel agency, if they deducted rental fees after you were let go, if
you were offered a job and have a contract that they cancelled,
You can report to the labor commission. Every state has a labor commission. Call them to find out what papers you need to fill out. one thing, you have to file in the state you worked in or in the state the travel agency works from. When you get to your destination first thing you should do is get the labor commission
phone number and and and forns in case you need them.
Keep good records, sign in sheets, copy if contracts, record conversations with agency, if possible. keep copies if signing in and out of apartment (beginning/ end of assignment),
keys returned, unit inspected and clean. etc. pay stubs. Remember the agency will lie to get out of paying you. They will present phony papers(from others, showing you stayed in apartnent longer) The labor commission will mediate, or take them to court. If they lose they pay a big fine and pay you several times what they owe you. They will also be monitored for further problems. to locate the labor commission on the internet
just search (labor commission and your state) you get their address, phone number, web site.
Also travel agencies are paying nurses pennies. I am now working full time. Only one agency pays well.
