I am about to start my sophomore year in college on my way to aquiring a BSN. I have a past DWI conviction from 1997. By the time I graduate it will be over ten years old. I understand that the Board reviews each individual case and makes an evaluation, but I would really like to know if anyone has any personal experience with a similar problem. I am 32 years old, single mom with 6 children. I've never been in any more trouble, and my life is pretty straight and narrow. I just want to know if this is something that I should or shouldn't worry about. I appreciate anyone who can give me an idea of what I might be facing. BTW, the website for the Texas Board of Nursing is not working, so I can't find any information there.
Don't worry, you should have no problem (but never lie about it to the employer or the board). I have a friend with the same "problem" and she is doing fine. You can always call your Board and ask (best) or talk to one of your teachers if you feel comfortable.
