Nursing professor Janet Wilson said she hopes a screening test for people responding to reports of domestic conflict can help reduce the risk that a participant in such a conflict could become a victim of violence in the future.

Oklahoma University said the school's College of Nursing at Oklahoma City developed the 11-question form intended to help first responders spot people who may need to be removed from a domestic situation because of the possibility of violence.

Wilson said the assessment form helps first responders recognize a potentially lethal situation and take action. The form calls for police officers and health-care workers to ask questions such as whether a person has been threatened with a gun, had their lives threatened or been forced to have sex.
