BA to BSN -- info please

I'm hoping someone can point me in the correct direction. I have a BA in Psych. I've recently completed A&P, biochem, micro., organic (2 semesters.) I was looking at a teaching certificate, but am now seriously considering a degree in nursing w/ my goal to be a masters (long term.) Does anyone know what is available? WOuld it be another bach degree? Or would I just add an RN to my BA.

Depends on what transfers from your current BA and the requirements of the school you attend.

I'd start off by going to http://www.allnursingschools.com they list the different types of programs available including fast-track degrees for people with existing degrees.

It would also behoove you to find out what nurses are saying about the Nursing field. Visit http://www.nursefriendly.com/views

You'll find articles from nurses detailing why they would and would not, recommend nursing at this time.

I wish someone had directed me to that site before I started school. I have 10 weeks left until graduation and I don't think I want to be a nurse anymore!

Hey, don't knock it till you try it. For all the complaining we do (not all of it unjustified), there are nurses that truthfully love what they do.

Finish up with graduation, pass your boards and get licensed. Once you have it, they can't (easily) take it away.

We put those articles, http://www.nursefriendly.com/views up there so people could see both the positives and negatives of going into Nursing.

If you've gone this far, its worth it to go a little farther. Just be ready for what you'll be dealing with.

One thing I will say about the profession is that it opens up a ton of career options that don't necessarily involve bedside care which we tend to bitch a lot about.

In a year or two, you could end up owning your own business, working for an insurance company in a cushy office, who knows?

I love my bedside nursing job for all the bitching I do. I'm going to take my RNC exam this fall (probably in Dec) and just see how stupid I really am

I worked in a factory for 9 years and even the worst day nursing is better then a good day there... now working for the dress buyer in an exclusive dept store was a pretty good job but part time min. wage doesn't cut it when you then have to wear the clothing you sell too
