When I worked at the Psych hospital we had hearings all the time about forceing people to take antipsychotic meds. The Lanterman, Petrie, Short, Act. Protects people from being medicated against their will except in cases where the person is proven to be a danger to his/herself or others or is gravely disabled by reason of mental illness. From what I have read about this guy he meets all the above criteria. I used to act as the hospital representative in these hearings along with a doctor, a Judge and a Patient advocate who acted as the person's legal representative. These hearsing are done on a monthly basis and can be changed or modified as the person's condition changes.
I think this guy will ultimately be found to be mentally incompetant to stand trial and will spend the rest of his life in a mental institution or until some bleeding heart liberal lets him out
