    First Hospital Job (Med-surg)

I've been a nurse about 10 years but most all of it has been in the nursing home. I will be starting an Adult/Gero NP program this spring and even though it's for primary care I have heard most any doctor will want a nurse who also has acute care experience.

I've been trying to get a job in a hospital for awhile with no luck but I just happened to apply to a rural hospital close to where I live and they offered me a job on the med-surg unit (days). It's a $6/hr paycut from the nursing home but I'm never going to get any experience any other way, I don't figure and maybe I can end up making more money in the long run by being more marketable.

Anyway, so I'm wondering if anyone can offer any pointers?

BTW, for all the wonderful moderators at allnurses, here's to you

Take the job and remember your goals and then $6 dollar pay cut will be worth it. For extra money work a per diem shift at the nursing home.
    Good Luck

I had to read this a second time to see that you were referring to allnurses instead of this site! Oh, I need some sleep after night shift.
